Front of the Bus, Wishes, and A Compliment
Front of the Bus

I go to school on the bus,
sitting alone in the front.
I walk in the hallways, by myself.
I sit in class with no one else.
Maybe it's these scrapes,
on my face that scare people.
The scrapes, I say, are from
falling off my bike, face first.
It was down at the dirt filled field
that only I know about.

My parents tell me I'm a klutz,
rehashing stories about my stupidity.
I touch the black and blues
on my face, remembering how they said
that I walked into a wall, fainted,
and awoke, not knowing what happened.
I've fallen down those basement steps
close to 25 times. My bones are
fragile and I can't name any I haven't
broken.

I remember the time I awoke
with blood on me, on my bed.
It was everywhere. I realized with terror,
that I was bleeding down there.
I ran to my father, who told me to
go talk to my mom, "It's just your
period, mom will know."
My period, I was only eight.

I ran to my mom.
She was crying, it must
have hurt her too,
falling down those stairs.

Wishes

It's winter and
the birds are about to
fly south. You don't want
them to leave but you
know they must, and as
they go, you wave and
blow them kisses.
They'll be back in the Spring,
you tell yourself.

You wait
and wait, and wait.
Occupy yourself by
watching TV and
playing the guitar, but there
is nothing on, and you
never did learn
to play the guitar.

When Spring finally
comes, you wait outside
and watch for them. As
it gets late, you worry
they many not make it
and you begin to cry.
And as your tears hit
the boards on the porch,
you see them come over
the horizon, and
you rejoice.

Your worry disappears
as they come near.
But you weren't worried
because they left.
You weren't worried
because they were gone so
long, and you weren't worried
because you thought they might
not return home. You were
just worried. We worry about
the simplest things and we
seem to get through the
most difficult just fine.

I hate worry, and
I wish the birds
didn't have to fly
south.

A Compliment

A compliment can't surmise
what I feel about you.
No word can even begin to
describe your beauty.
All the thoughts in the world
can't match your intelligence.
All the love out there
can't even come close to your kindness.
The universe, as infinite as it is,
is no comparison to the size of your heart.
'Great', an extraordinary word,
but it's an understatement when I think of you.
I not only love you for being a better person
then anyone else I know,
but I love you for making me a better person,
and I curse this poem.
I curse it because it will never capture
the undying love I have for you.

Angel, Insomnia, and Would You
Angel

I awoke yesterday,
awoke to a brand new world,
one I have never experienced.
The path I was forced to take
was frightening to me.
It was so new,
and it confused me so much.
The path itself was dark,
and as if in a forest,
the trees and branches were all around me.
They held me in,
took me hostage.
And as I screamed for the forest to let me go,
as I wept in fear,
and as I saw my life flash before me,
I heard an enchanting voice.
I looked up,
and I saw an angel appear.
I stared bewildering at her.
She was beautiful,
her wings white as the snow,
her smile bright as the sun,
eyes as wonderful as a rainbow,
and her heart larger then the world.
She cared enough to take my hand,
and save me from my hell.
She raised her hands,
and parted the trees away from me,
much like Moses did to the Red Sea.
I was no longer afraid.
She held me in her arms,
as my joy took over
and I cried, then she started to sing to me.
At that exact moment,
I knew that I had fallen in love.
Fallen in love with a perfect being.
That night,
I prayed to God.
I asked him if he would
let me keep you forever.

Insomnia

I have insomnia.
I can't sleep; I'm up all night.
It's quite normal, I know.
I sit alone at night,
thinking maybe mine could be something else,
maybe I'm meant to be up,
to see the things that go on.

For instance,
the deadly squabble that
Mr. and Mrs. Griffith endured last night.
I was the only one to see,
the only one who cared to see.
I know that house will be empty for awhile.
Mr. Griffith is behind bars,
and Mrs. Griffith six feet under.
This is something that only happens at night,
in the dark, for no one to see.

Mrs. Jones, down the street,
a nice old African American woman,
who lost her son in a drive-by.
She is scared for her life,
afraid that those bastards will come back,
wasting no time on her.
Something should be done,
but I'm the only one that sees.
At night, no one cares.

Blake, the burnout, next door.
The guy who spends all his time alone,
no friends, no family to care for.
I hate him, so much that I can't stand it.
I can hear him snorting up.
It burns my ears,
and I hear the police,
two days later, because no one cared he O.D.ed
and the landlord began to get sick of that god-awful smell.

His snorting up is one less thing
to keep me up at night.

Would You?

Would you know me
if you met me on the street?
And if you did,
what would you do?
How would you feel?
Would you sing to the birds?
Would you praise the Lord?
Would your tears of joy
hit the pavement of the road?
Would your heart melt at my sight?
Would you be overcome with
happiness?
I know I would.

When A Killer Strikes

The opening credits roll over a series of shots of the suburbs of Saskatoon. The darkness of night makes it hard to see and the only lights are those of the moon and streetlights.

CUT TO:

(Int. Night. Jonathan's Room)

The room is dark with only the moonlight shining through an open window. JONATHAN WILKENS, who is approximately seventeen years old, is asleep in his bed. The sheets are ruffled around his face, so it is hard to distinguish his looks.

CUT TO:

A window is open and the sound of the wind can be heard blowing through it. Jonathan slow awakes, gets up from his bed and walks to the window. We can see that he is cold from the frigid air coming through the window.

JONATHAN
(sleepily)
I thought I closed this.

He closes the window, walks back to his bed and crawls in. He pulls the covers over his body and lays his head on the pillow. We hear a loud thump. Jonathan lifts head and looks around. He sees nothing so he lies down again. The thump is heard again. This time Jonathan gets up to investigate. He walks into the hallway and then proceeds to check the washroom. There is no evidence of anything peculiar.

He walks back to his bedroom and crawls back into bed.

The next thing we see is a large butcher knife hanging in the air and then coming down directly into Jonathan's chest. We can hear him screaming and fighting the masked killer, but to no avail. The knife continues to arc in the air and the killer continues to slaughter Jonathan. We can hear Jonathan scream aloud as he is butchered in his own bed. His screams become more silent and his fighting becomes less intense. The masked killer gets off the bed and makes his way to the door. He looks back at the slain body on the bed, as he closes the door.

CUT TO:

(Ext. Night. Katie's house)

A fade up to the front door of the house is seen.

CUT TO:

(Int. Night. Katie's house)

KATIE RIPKENS, 17, is seen making popcorn. In the background we can hear the TV.

ON TV
(off screen)
In local news, a boy has been viscously murdered. The boy, Jonathan Wilkens, was found early this morning stabbed to death in his own house.

Katie runs into the living room and stares bewildered at the TV.

CON'T ON TV
His parents, who were out for the evening, found their son dead in bed. It is not known how the killer got in or even out of the house, but it is known that the killer used some sort of large butcher's knife.

As soon as Katie hears this she runs to the basement door and down the stairs.

We see four teenage boys sitting around the TV watching a movie. The movie playing is Scream. The four boys, TOBE CARTER, CASEY JALEN, CARL RAKER and MATTHEW RIPKENS are engrossed in the movie.

KATIE
Matthew, turn off the movie and turn on the news!

MATTHEW
What the hell for?

KATIE
Just do it, all right!

Matthew reaches over and presses STOP on the VCR.

MATTHEW
What channel?

KATIE
Channel 3.

Matthew turns the TV to channel 3 and sits back in his chair.

REPORTER ON TV
The police have no clues to go on. There are no prints, no murder weapon or anything that could lead to any possible suspects. It seems the victim, Jonathan, was murdered at approximately 2 am last night. There is no evidence that the killer will strike again. For further updates stay tuned to WGHA, Saskatoon, channel 3. Until later, this is Heather Myers for the 10:30 news.

ALL
(except KATIE)
Oh my god!

CARL
Oh, man! I sat next to that guy in English.

CASEY
Not anymore.

Katie takes a seat next to Tobe.

TOBE
Shit, that's crazy. I wonder what happened?

KATIE
Well, what I caught upstairs was that he was brutally butchered.

MATTHEW
(barely laughing)
Like something out of a horror movie, hey-our own little horror movie, in our town. Cool!

KATIE
It's not funny, you prick!

MATTHEW
I didn't say it was funny. I just said that we had our own horror movie.

KATIE
Shut up!

MATTHEW
Jeez, well anyway, now that we are on the subject of horror movies, what do you all think is the best horror movie ever made?

KATIE
What does that have to do with anything?!

MATTHEW
Nothing, I just wanted to know.

KATIE
You are so messed up.

MATTHEW
Whatever, so, does anyone want to answer the question?

CARL
Halloween, for sure.

TOBE
A Nightmare on Elm Street.

CASEY
The Gate. That show was terrifying.

MATTHEW
You're all wrong. Psycho is the single greatest horror film ever made. What about you, Katie?

KATIE
I hate horror movies. They're just stupid movies about some stupid, big breasted girl running upstairs, while being chased by some maniac killer, when all she has to do is go out the front door.

MATTHEW
Whatever.
(beat)
The Gate, what the fuck, guy?

Matthew reaches over and slaps Casey upside the head. Tobe takes a drink of his Coke and puts it back beside his chair. Carl reaches down and grabs some chips from the bag and hungrily chews them down.

MATTHEW
What about the best sequel ever made? Not just horror movies, but anything.

KATIE
What are you going on about? What does this have to do with anything?

MATTHEW
I just wanted to know, that's all. So, you want to answer it?

KATIE
Nope, I don't want to answer that.

MATTHEW
Fine! Anyone else.

TOBE
That one is easy. The Godfather Part II.

CARL
The Empire Strikes Back.

MATTHEW
Part of a trilogy, doesn't count. I'm talking about a sequel where the first movie made a whole bunch of money and those greedy bastards said 'Let's make some more money' and decided to create another show. That's what I'm talking about.

CARL
All right, then-The Terminator II.

CASEY
Speed 2.

MATTHEW
Casey, why don't you just leave?

KATIE
You guys have the stupidest conversations. You don't even care that someone is dead! I'm going to go to bed. I'll see you all tomorrow. Good night.

Katie walks upstairs. On her way up everyone shouts good night to her. We see Katie walk upstairs to her bedroom and close the door.

CUT TO:

(Ext. Night. Katie's house)

We see everyone (except Matthew) leaving through the front door. It is approximately 1:00 at night. All of the boys are on their way home.

CUT TO:

(Ext. Night. Tobe's house)

We see Tobe entering his house and walk down to the basement. He goes to the TV and puts a movie in the VCR. The movie that begins to play is Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Tobe sits back in his chair and starts to watch the movie.

We hear the phone ring off screen. Tobe picks it up and answers.

TOBE
Hello?

VOICE
(on phone)
(off screen)
Hello.

TOBE
Who is this?

VOICE
You tell me.

TOBE
Well, I have no idea. Oh, wait, I think I seen this movie before. You're Billy Loomis from Scream.

VOICE
This is no movie!
(beat)
Are you alone in the house?

TOBE
You gave yourself away, Matthew. I know it's you. And you know goddamn well that my parents are out of town.

VOICE
Who's Matthew?

TOBE
You tell me.

VOICE
First, you tell me your name.

TOBE
Why do you want to know my name?

VOICE
I would like to know the name of my next victim!

TOBE
Matt, that is so unoriginal.

VOICE
Maybe that's because I'm not Matthew.

TOBE
Then who are you?

VOICE
The question isn't who am I; the question is where am I.

TOBE
So-where are you?

VOICE
Right behind you!

Tobe turns around to look behind him. There is no one there.

TOBE
Where are you?

VOICE
You'll find out soon enough!
(beat)
Do you want to DIE tonight?

TOBE
Do I want to die tonight? Well, I know what you did last summer! So, now we are even!

VOICE
Don't get cocky on me. I will cut you like a fish!

TOBE
Bye now, asshole!

Click. We see Tobe hang up the phone and then he gets up and turns off the movie.

Ring, ring. The phone rings again. Tobe is hesitant to pick it up. He finally does.

TOBE
Hello?

MATTHEW
Hey! What you doing?

TOBE
Hey, man, did you just phone here?

MATTHEW
No.

TOBE
No? Are you sure?

MATTHEW
Yeah. Oh wait, yeah I did.

TOBE
I thought it was you.

MATTHEW
No, man, I phoned, but your line was busy. I couldn't get through.

TOBE
Are you serious?

MATTHEW
Yeah, I just phoned, but it was busy like I said. I just got through now.

TOBE
Yeah, well, whatever. Listen, is there something you wanted?

MATTHEW
You left your jacket over here tonight, I'll bring it over tomorrow, ok?

TOBE
I left it over there? Yeah, ok, bring it over tomorrow.

MATTHEW
All right, I'll see you tomorrow then?

TOBE
Okay, see you then. Bye.

MATTHEW
Bye.

Click. Tobe shuts off the lights and walks up the stairs. We then see him go upstairs to his bedroom.

He gets changed and we then see him go into the washroom to wash up. Tobe washes his hands and his face. He reaches over to grab a towel on the rack. The camera zooms in on him. He comes back to the mirror and we can see the killer behind him in the mirror. The killer raises his knife and slashes Tobe across the throat. The camera zooms in on a corner of the mirror as blood splatters on that corner of the mirror.

CUT TO:

(Ext. Day. Katie's house)

We see Matthew in the back yard in a lawn chair. We than pan into the living room and see Katie, sitting on the couch, watching the news again. Her hands are over her face and it looks like she is very troubled.

REPORTER ON TV
Tobe Carter was 17 years old and attended Evan Hardy high school here in town. His parents found him early this morning and are very much in mourning. Police say that he was murdered at approximately 1:30 last night and have suspicion to believe that it is the same person that murdered Jonathan Wilkens earlier this week. This is Heather Myers reporting for the noon news, until next time.

Katie gets up from the couch and walks outside to where Matthew is sitting. She sits down in the lawn chair next to him.

KATIE
(sadly)
Tobe is dead.

MATTHEW
What the hell are you talking about?

KATIE
Tobe is dead!

Matthew sits up on the lawn chair.

MATTHEW
Oh my god! When?

KATIE
(almost hysterical)
Last night. He got to him. The killer got to him!

MATTHEW
Holy shit. This is something straight out of a fucking horror movie. Tobe is dead! Dead, he's fucking dead!

Matthew gets off his lawn chair and walks around for awhile to blow of some steam.

MATTHEW CON'T
See I knew some shit like this would happen. Something was going to happen. All these fucking crazy people around! He's going to come after us. He's bound to.

KATIE
Calm down! All right? You're starting to make me panic.

Matthew sits back down on his lawn chair.

MATTHEW
You should panic. Listen, it's you're standard horror movie stuff. The person alone in the house always dies first and Tobe was alone in the house, right?

KATIE
Well, yeah, his parents were out last night and got home this morning. They're the ones that found him. But that doesn't mean anything.

MATTHEW
Okay, you got to listen to me on this `cause I know what I'm talking about. There are three major rules if you're in a horror movie. Number one, never have sex.
(beat)
Rule number two, never drink or do drugs.
(beat)
Rule three, never say 'I'll be right back,' cause you won't. I'm sure you know those ones already but there's a few more that you need to know.
(beat)
First off, never trust anyone, ever. The first person you trust is most likely the killer. Not always, but most likely. Second, if you're running from the monster, killer, etc., expect to trip at least twice, more if you're a girl. And even though you're running and the killer is walking, stumbling, whatever, they will catch up.
(beat)
And last but not least, never ever assume that the

Casey and Carl enter the gate and come into the backyard. They both seem upset and confused.

CARL
(interrupts Matthew)
Did you all see the news! Tobe is dead. Fucking dead!

CASEY
All this shit is starting to scare me. I mean fucking scare me. A goddamn psycho is in our town killing our friends. Scary shit man, scary!

MATTHEW
What we all need to do is stick together. We don't want to split apart because that's when he'll get to us.
(beat)
Our parents are gone for the weekend so you two can stay over here.

CARL
How do you know this guy is even after us? I mean what does he want with us. We haven't done anything.

MATTHEW
Psychopaths don't need reasons. Hell, don't you guys watch horror movies. There aren't reasons, they just kill and kill, and kill some more. They get kicks out of it. Did Norman Bates have a motive? No. Did Hannibal Lector have reasons to eat people? No. That's what they do for fun. And this guy is having a lot of fun.

CASEY
You're fucking messed up guy. You've seen to many fucking movies.

We see the next door neighbor, MR. VORHEES, come out of his back door and into his backyard.

MR.VORHEES
(deep, scary voice)
Hi, kids.

ALL
Hi, Mr. Vorhees.

Mr. Vorhees then goes around his house into his garage.

KATIE
That guy has always scared me.

MATTHEW
I wouldn't worry about him.

KATIE
Anyway, I think we should just call the police, or maybe talk to dad. That's what we should do.

MATTHEW
What will that do? They already know there is a killer out there. They don't even know what they are looking for. Police are so stupid; there is a formula, a very simple formula! Everyone is a suspect!

CARL
Yeah, but we could tell them he's after us. They could send over some protection. You're dad's a cop (speaking to Katie and Matthew) right? We could talk to him.

KATIE
Yeah, but he's out of town for the weekend. And besides, how do you guys know he is even after us? Maybe he is gone. Maybe he is done killing.

CUT TO:

(Ext. Night. Katie's house)

We see a long view of Katie house. The only light is that of the moon and streetlights. The lights from the rooms in the house can also be seen.

CUT TO:

We see the three boys in the basement watching When A Stranger Calls. We see Carl get up from his chair and go to the stairs.

CARL
I'm going to go get some more pop and maybe some more chips. You guys want some?

MATTHEW/CASEY
No.

CARL
I'll be right back.

Carl goes up the stairs and goes into the kitchen. He opens the fridge door and takes out the pop.

CUT TO:

Downstairs, we see both Casey and Matthew still sitting and watching the movie. Casey gets up and walks to the washroom.

MATTHEW
Where are you going?

CASEY
I'm going to the washroom. Don't worry about it. I'll be right back.

MATTHEW
Oh, you said it. You said 'I'll be right back', you are going to get it!

Casey goes into the washroom and Matthew continues to watch the movie.

CUT TO:

We see Carl pouring the pop into his glass and then he opens the fridge door again and puts the pop back in.

When he closes the door, a hand reaches around Carl's face and clasps his mouth shut. The killer stabs Carl in the back, pulls out the knife and stabs him again. Carl's arms flail around. He tries to scream but to no avail.

The killer drags Carl's dead body across the floor.

CUT TO:

Katie is in the bathroom getting ready for bed. We see her washing up and brushing her teeth. She then turns to leave the washroom and turns off the lights. She goes to her bedroom and turns on the lights.

KATIE
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!

We see on the mirror, printed in red lipstick, GOOD NIGHT, DON'T LET THE KILLER STRIKE.

Katie runs out of the room and down the stairs. She turns to go into the living room but runs into a person.

KATIE
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

She looks up and is surprised to see that it is just her brother, Matthew.

MATTHEW
What's going on. Are you all right?

KATIE
HE WAS IN MY ROOM. HE WAS IN MY FUCKING ROOM. THE FUCKING KILLER WAS IN MY ROOM!

MATTHEW
Wow, slow down. How do you know he was in your room?

KATIE
He wrote something on my mirror.

MATTHEW
What did he write?

KATIE
Why don't I just show you? Come on.

Katie and Matthew go up the stairs and into her room. We see a close up of Katie's face and she looks very confused. We then see a view of the mirror and the writing has been wiped off.

MATTHEW
You're sure he was in here? You're sure there was writing on the mirror?

KATIE
I know what I'm talking about! He was in here and there was writing on the mirror!

MATTHEW
Well, what did it say?

KATIE
It said 'Sleep tight, don't let the killer strike,' that's what it said. I'm not crazy! He's fucking with us. Can't you see that? He's messin' with our minds. Where is Casey? Huh, where is he, and what about Carl?

MATTHEW
Just calm down, I'm sure Casey and Carl are around here somewhere.

Casey walks in as Matthew says that.

CASEY
What are you guys doing?

KATIE
Where were you?

CASEY
I was downstairs, watching the rest of the movie. Anyway, what are you guys doing?

MATTHEW
Katie thinks the killer is here.

KATIE
He is. He's in the fucking house!

CASEY
Are you sure?

KATIE
Of course I'm sure. He was in my room. Where's Carl?

CASEY
I don't know. I haven't seen him.

KATIE
I'm going to go look for him.

CASEY
I'll come with you.

MATTHEW
I'll stay up here and look for him.

Casey and Katie both go down the stairs to the living room to look around. They look in the living room first and then make their way through the kitchen. They search all the closets and rooms.

Katie opens one of the hall closets and Carl's body comes tumbling out.

KATIE
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!

Casey comes running over to where Katie is.

CASEY
Oh my god! Is he dead?

KATIE
I think so. What should we do?

CASEY
Run over to the Mackenzies' and get help. Call the police from there. I'll go look for Matthew.

Katie turns to leave and then she turns back.

KATIE
I'll be back with help as soon

As she is saying this we see the killer slowly approaching Casey from behind.

KATIE CON'T
Casey look out! He's right behind you!

Casey turns around and the killer immediately plunges the knife into Casey's stomach. We the see killer pull out the knife and plunge it in again. The killer does this two more times. Casey tries to scream but has no energy left for it. All that can be heard is little muffled sounds coming from his mouth. Casey turns around to face Katie. There is blood covering his whole shirt and he is grasping his stomach.

Katie grasps her mouth and attempts to scream but nothing is heard. She turns to run as Casey's body drops to the floor.

The killer then begins to go after Katie. Katie opens the front door and slams it into the killer's face. The killer falls to the floor as Katie makes her getaway. The killer slowly rises to his feet and continues to pursue Katie through the night.

Katie makes her way to the woods close to her house.

KATIE
HELP! HELP! SOMEONE, PLEASE!

No one can hear though. She has wondered too far away from civilization. The town is behind her now.

We see the killer walking along after Katie. It is more of a speed walk. The killer is calm and collective.

We then see Katie who is stumbling along. She is running as fast as possible.

She trips and falls to the ground. She gets up and looks back for the killer. She doesn't see him. She continues to run. Running and looking back.

She trips again. She gets to her feet and looks back for the killer. This time she can see him. He is gaining ground on her and we see that his tempo has increased.

Katie continues to run. We see that there is a clearing in the woods ahead of her. The camera pans to the killer again and his walk has now increased to a slight jog. It is now evident that the killer will catch up to her.

Katie trips a third time and falls to the ground. The killer now catches up to her. We can see his knife gleaming in his hand.

KATIE
HELP! PLEASE, HELP ME!

KILLER
(strained voice)
No one can hear you. You're all alone.

KATIE
Who are you?

KILLER
Remember, I told you not to trust anyone. Ever!

As the killer says this he talks off his mask and we see that it is MATTHEW RIPKENS, Katie's brother.

KILLER CON'T
That was the forth rule. You broke it, so now you've got to die. That's what happens when you break the rules, you have to pay.

KATIE
YOU'RE MAD!

KILLER/MATTHEW
'We all go a little mad sometimes,' Anthony Perkins, Psycho. Later quoted by Skeet Ulrich, in Scream.

Matthew reaches around his back and pulls out a gun.

KATIE
Where did you get that?

KILLER/MATTHEW
Well, you know how Dad's a cop and all. It's pretty amazing what you can find in someone's closet. Guns, money, dead bodies. I'm sure you found Carl.

KATIE
What do you want, Matthew?

MATTHEW
I want to see how far your blood will spray if I cut your throat.

KATIE
Why do you want to kill me? What's your fucking motive!?

Katie is still on the ground with Matthew standing over her.

MATTHEW
I'VE ALWAYS HATED YOU! Mom and Dad always liked you better. You are so damned smart. You've got it all and I got nothing. So if I get rid of you, I don't got to worry about it anymore. Shall I use the gun or knife? Knives are a little more poetic, don't you think?

Matthew bends down and puts the knife up to Katie's throat.

MATTHEW
So, let's get on with the show.

KATIE
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

As Katie yells this she kicks Matthew in the stomach and he falls, backwards, to the ground. The knife slips from his right hand and the gun slips from his left and falls to the ground.

Katie stumbles on her way up from the ground. She gets up and starts to run. Matthew then gets to his feet and grabs Katie's leg. She falls to the ground. He pulls her towards him. Katie rolls over on the ground and punches Matthew in the face. He falls to the ground again. Matthew reaches over and pulls Katie back to the ground by the hair. He gets to his knees and begins to choke her.

MATTHEW
I hate to do it like this. It's so 1800's. I like my victims to bleed.

While Matthew is choking her, Katie is trying to reach for the knife that is by her right side. She grabs it after a couple seconds of fumbling it and pulls it up and stabs Matthew in the right side his chest. He reels upwards and screams. Katie plunges it back into him in approximately the same area. Matthew then falls off Katie and to the ground.

Katie drops the blood stained knife to the ground and then stumbles to her feet. She looks for the gun that was dropped by Matthew moments before. While she is looking for it she occasionally looks back at Matthew. We see no movement. Katie finds the gun and gets to her feet. We see Katie, with blood on her face and clothes walk back into the woods, towards her house. She looks completely exhausted.

CUT TO:

(Ext. Night. Katie's house)

We no see Katie walking towards her house. The time is approximately 1:00 in the morning. We see her go into the house through the front door and into the living room. Casey is on the lying on the ground. Carl's body is close to the closet.

Katie walks to where Casey is lying. We see a hand reach and grab Katie's leg.

KATIE
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!

Katie looks down to see what has grabbed her. We see that Casey is not dead and it is him who has grabbed Katie's leg.

KATIE
Oh my god! Casey! I thought you were dead.

CASEY
I know. I thought I was dead too. I've never been so happy to be a virgin in my life.

We see a close up of Katie face and she has a bewildered look on her face.

KATIE
What?

CASEY
Nah, I'm just kidding. I'm not a virgin. I just always wanted to say that. It sounds pretty funny.

Katie reaches down and helps Casey up. Casey gets to his feet.

CASEY
Where did you all go? Where's Matthew?

KATIE
MATTHEW'S THE FUCKING KILLER! IT'S HIM! I KILLED HIM, OUT IN THE WOODS.

MATTHEW
(off screen)
You thought you killed me. But in horror movies, they always come back. The killer always comes back. Never ever assume that the killer is dead. That's the sixth rule.

KATIE
And just like in the horror movies the good guy always wins!

As she says this, she turns around and pulls the gun up and shoots Matthew in the forehead. He flies back and through the doorway.

CASEY
Wow! That was intense.

We see Katie drop the gun and sigh.

KATIE
I hope that never happens again.

CUT TO:

(Ext. Dawn. Katie's house)

We see from a distance Katie and Casey walking out her front door. Music comes up and the credits began to roll.
